Behind the Mask

I am a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who has spent the majority of my career specializing in hip and knee replacements. For the last 30 years, I’ve sat in exam rooms explaining complex procedures to patients, knowing that our time together was never quite long enough for everything they needed to hear.

That’s why I created The Surgeon Unmasked. I wanted to build a completely free reference library to give patients the unfiltered truth and honest advice they deserve.

But I don’t just look at joint replacement from the surgeon’s side of the table. I am also a patient who has undergone my own knee replacement. I know what the anxiety feels like before surgery, and I know exactly what the recovery demands. My goal is to use my decades of clinical experience—and my own personal journey—to help you navigate yours.

Whether you’re just starting to explore surgery or you’re in the middle of a difficult recovery, I’m here to pull back the curtain and give you the information you need to move forward with confidence..

I am truly humbled to have been named 'Physician of the Year' at my hospital—an honor voted on by the staff I work alongside every day. To be recognized by the nurses, techs, and colleagues who are in the trenches with me means more than any academic title ever could.

Medicine is a team sport, and I am only as good as the incredible people who support my patients. I’m deeply grateful to my work family, and I’m honored to bring that same dedication to the patients I serve both in the OR and here on this channel.
